Work and the Data Economy: On Abstraction and ContemptThe theme of the 2024 joint meeting of the Society for the Anthropology of Work and the Society for Economic Anthropology was “Work and the Data Economy.” Together with my fellow conference organizers Marcel LaFlamme and Alex Blanchette, I co-edited a special issue of Economic Anthropology collecting articles derived from the event, and co-authored an introductory essay tracing the relationship between abstraction and contempt.
